The local folks refer to their
community as the "Small Town, with the Big Back Yard"! Things to so and do are
diverse. This is a sportsman's paradise. There's plenty of camping, lodging or
RV Parks to serve as a "base" for your explorations. See the Ancient Bristlecone
Forest and Palisade Glacier. Fish the Owens River or any of the trout laden
lakes and streams that are close by in Big Pine Canyon. Slip over to Death Valley.
Take a horseback trip. Many off-road trails await you. There are hot springs to
soak in. Westgard Pass takes you to the Eureka Sand Dunes, the tallest dunes in
the Great Basin, with some shifting piles of sand reaching 900 feet in height! See
old rock dwellings, mines and prospector's shacks along the way.
