Welcome to Jamestown!
The site of the first gold find in Tuolumne County, Jamestown was first known as Woods Crossing. It was renamed Jamestown in honor of Col. James, who wined and dined the townsfolk, before falling on bad times and disappearing with their money. While visiting, be sure to go see the Sierra Railroad Museum. There's great food and a variety of excellent lodging. For more information, click on Jamestown. Back to Sonora Map Back to Sierra Gateway Map |
