Like South Tufa, County Park is a great introduction to Mono Lake's unique waters and tufa towers. A easy trail and boardwalk meander to the lake through the willows and marsh of the Mono Lake Tufa State Reserve (between the park and the lake), filled with waving grasses, colorful wildflowers, and delicate tufa towers. At the lake, shorebirds feeding on the abundant aquatic life provide excellent opportunities for birding and general sight seeing. Nestled along a small stream and shaded by cottonwood trees, County Park is an idyllic picnic spot. It has toilets, drinking water, picnic tables, and swings for the enjoyment of all. It is located just off Highway 395, five miles north of Lee Vining. During thet summer months, birding tours are offered several times a week.
